Three ways to stay productive

Four Tips to Stay Productive

Staying productive is challenging in today’s digital world, with a constant flow of information, and the option to stay connected 24/7. It can feel impossible to get anything done! Here are four tips to help you stay on track:

Time-Block

Time blocking is simple: set aside a specific amount of time to a project. Perhaps you set aside an hour to study, and then an hour of working on your resume. And don’t forget about breaks! A quick five minute break can do wonders. Use it to recharge and set yourself up to move onto your next task. The key here is not letting yourself get distracted by your phone, Netflix, etc., so you can concentrate. Make sure to eliminate those distractions!

Stay Active + Pursue Your Hobbies

We live in a world where people are often overworked and overwhelmed. The best way to avoid this is by staying active or pursuing hobbies outside of the workplace. It’s crucial to recharge your mind and body. Taking a step away for a few hours or even a few days to focus solely on things you love like painting, yoga, or reading can not only recharge your energy, but inspire you creatively. Being productive doesn’t mean being ‘on’ all the time. Allow yourself to enjoy your weekend or vacation!

Stop Multitasking

Multitasking may seem like the most efficient way to be productive, but it’s not always the case. Studies show that we are actually slower at completing tasks when we switch from one activity to the next. Switching from writing an email to working on a brand pitch, and then turning to your phone to check Instagram takes time. Focus on one thing at a time.

Block Notifications

Our tech is so…connected. Which is at times SUPER convenient, but can be a disaster when you’re trying to get stuff done. Do yourself a favor and turn off any notifications you have on your computer for social media channels, or anything else that may entertain you.
